Frankie & Benny's has a traditional 1950s New York feel to it with its original family photographs, traditional wooden furniture and period music. They serve a wide range of authentic American and Italian dishes at their restaurant including pizzas, pasta, burgers, ribs and fries. They also cater for vegetarians and serve cocktails, beers, wines and spirits at their bar. It is an ideal party or pre-cinema venue.

I have previously visited Frankie and Benny’s a number of times over the past year but on my last visit I was disappointed by the lack of service that was given by staff members. We received sub standard level service right from the very beginning. The food was brought out and most of it was fine, however there were a couple of dishes that were not edible (for example the meatballs were hard and undercooked). I called over a waitress and when I complained she rolled her eyes at me and walked off then returned and said she could replace the meal but as all the other diners had finished by this time we asked for it to be taken off the menu. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced in a restaurant, the staff were rude, miserable and did not want to help. Do not visit this restaurant if you value customer service in any way.

Frankie and Bennies is an Italian themed restaurant. Upon arrival you wait at the "Please wait here" sign while all the customers at their tables stare at you. This can be for a few seconds or a few minutes depending on how busy the staff are!The waitress will sit you where all the other customers are herded in - each waitress gets an allocated section of the restaurant so asking for a specific table could get you an exasperated look.Once sat down you are immediately asked what you want to drink. Your drinks order is tapped into the central computer and a little ticket with your required drinks appears from a little machine at the bar.If all goes well your tray of drinks will be made straight away by the bar staff and placed on the bar for your waitress to collect or the waitress will make them herself. This process can be delayed if a) the barmaid is out on a fag break b) the waitress is run off her feet c) a combination of both in which case half an hour after you arrive you will receive a tray of flat, warm drinks! When you order your food, your best bet is to stick to the menu. The waitress had to take your order for starters and mains and then punch them in to the central computer thing. What happend is the starters go through to the kitchen and the chefs make them in the order they come. Once you have finished your starter the waitress will go back to the computer to send the main meals order to the kitchen and they ook them first come first served again. So, if you were to change things about, like eliminating an ingredient that will kill you or asking for childrens meals to arrive with the adults starters, it kinda messes up the entire system. On top of that the entire kitchen staff are Portaguese and the entire waitressing staff are English - resulting in practically NIL communication. The food itself ranges between god-damn-gorgeous and completely crap, it just depends on what you order and who cooks it and when it was cooked. The waitresses are miserable but why shouldn't they be? They are paid £4.00 an hour and tips are added to their wage packets to bump it up. They are usualy young girls who just want to go home! All in all a miserable experience but if you go there to prop up the bar and drink cocktails you'll have a much better time! The cocktails are expensive but yummy (Banana Mocha is gorgeous!) and the bar staff are generally a lot more chirpy as they don't have to deal with all the stress that the waitresses do.
