• What a wonderful find......

  My Wife and I eat out all the time and have recently visited the Fishmarket Restaurant in Benfleet. We had the most wonderful meal...really fresh lovely seafood - cooked beautifully! The restaurant has a cosy, warm feel to it and the staff were really helpful.

• Very Poor

  Have been to this place before on a Sunday and food was good and service good. Took friends yesterday and what a difference. The service was extremely slow we waited over 40 mins for our main course and there were only about 10 people in the restaurant. There was no apology when we asked how much longer . Then the food was very very poor. My husbands main course was king prawns in a creamy sauce - however they came with the heads, tails and shells in place - when he asked how he was meant to shell them - the waitress went and asked the chef and he said he didn't know? He wasn't prepared to shell them! My husband left this dish. Then to top it all one person had mussles - on returning home has been violently sick continually through the night. We found the whole episode very embarrassing when we had recommended it.

• Mixed bag

  Have eaten here a few times. Food generally is very good, but service can be very slow and wearing. An instance of this is yesterday, we waited over an hour for our starters, nobody went out of their way to apologise or improve our experience, will visit again but will allow the memory of this bad experience to fade before I do.
