It is always difficult if your birthday falls on Monday night - Leigh is a ghost town - well not anymore - my friends and I enjoyed a super meal - excellent service and a fabulous evenings entertainment with a young pianist - the restaurant has finally brought London chic to Leigh On Sea with an excellent menu well presented well cooked and whilst the restaurant is what I would call a 'special' occasion restaurant - it was not wildly expensive considering the very high standard.

Our party was a mixture of adults, teens and very young children. The staff were very courteous and we had a pre-dinner drink in the little bar whilst coats and bags were put away. We were offered very acceptable alternatives for the little ones. This was a celebratory family dinner and the staff were very discreet. The choice of menu is excellent; the starters are really very good indeed and the different main courses were all pronounced delicious; we were spoilt for choice of puddings. The service here was excellent. An intimate restaurant where you feel welcome and I would have no hesitation in recommending St James - I will certainly visit again. Our family had a wonderful evening - thank you. <P>
